 What should be done

  •  Place a nitroglycerin tablet under the tongue. If the pain is not relieved by three tablets, taken 5 minutes apart, 911 should be called. When a heart attack is suspected, a rapid reaction is vital. Do not waste time!
  •  If time allows, notify your physician so that arrangements can be made prior to arrival in the ER.
